Introduction[]

Skyros is a Tier 4 Medium Robot with 1x Light hardpoint, 1x Medium hardpoint and 1x Heavy point.(just like Golem)

Ability[]

Skyros' ability is called Metamorphosis. Upon activation the Skyros toggles its mode. In Ball Mode, the Skyros has 85% damage resistance and gains a 100% speed boost at the cost of losing all of its weapons and de-activating its Aegis shield. Its Aegis shield can regenerate while in this mode. An added bonus is that the Skyros gains massively increased momentum, therefore allowing it to push enemies back (and possibly into an environmental hazard). While in Attack Mode, the Skyros turns back into a spider robot, unfolds all weapons and deploys its Aegis shield, which stops regenerating. The ability takes 2.5 seconds to change into Ball Mode and 1.8 seconds to turn into Attack Mode.

As mentioned above, the Skyros has a 'streamlined' Aegis shield. This is a sphere-shaped shield that blocks all damage types (with the exception of robots using the Shieldbreaker). Unlike typical Aegis shields, the streamlined model defends only the Skyros itself, so it cannot protect allies but cannot be bypassed by walking through it. At base level, this Aegis shield has 32,070 health and regenerates while in Ball Mode at ~6% HP/sec. The Aegis can have any amount of health to function if the Skyros is in attack mode.

Strategy[]

The Skyros is a robot with moderate durability and firepower. It functions similarly to a Loki, with a primary focus on taking beacons. Its high damage resistance acts as a stand-in to Loki's stealth. Skyros can also function as a dedicated hit-and-run robot, rolling up to an unsuspecting target, unleashing its firepower upon them, and then retreating just as quickly.

The Skyros comes equipped with an Aegis shield, similar to Typhon. The shield can block incoming projectiles as well as certain area-of-effect weapons when in Attack mode. However, the shield itself is not very durable and only recharges when in Ball Mode. In terms of survivability, it is best for Skyros to remain in Ball Mode whenever it is reloading its weapons or during a heated confrontation. It is best to minimize exposure to weapons that can bypass damage resistance, since it does not have enough health to survive these weapons in a prolonged firefight. The legendary pilot Theseus provides immunity to defense mitigation. However the Skyros still remains vulnerable to DoT and Blast effect. Players should avoid enemies that have corrosion and blast based weaponry and try to utilize the Skyros' Aegis shield to stop corrosion effects from accumulating whenever possible.

Using the added momentum provided by Ball Mode is an innovative yet effective side strategy. However, be aware that the Skyros itself still moves a bit after the commander stops moving it. Attempting to push enemies into environmental hazards can go horribly wrong, especially if the victim has a translocator active.

The usage of Anticontrol, Repair Amplifier, Heavy Armor Kit, Nuclear Amplifier and/or Nitro Unit modules can greatly benefit the Skyros. They help negate negative effects, increase survivability, increase damage output, or increase speed. These can be useful in capturing beacons quickly. The use of Fortifier on the Skyros is not recommended. Skyros should avoid consistently exposing itself to fight unnecessarily.

Trivia[]

  • The Skyros is the first robot which has a completely different form while using it's ability, which is forming into a ball.
  • Skyros is the second robot in game who has 1x Light hardpoint, 1x Medium hardpoint and 1x Heavy hardpoint. The first one was Golem, which was released 8 years before this robot!
  • Skyros is the second robot with a streamlined aegis shield (the other being Typhon, Mars, Dagon and Shenlou)
  • Many thought the name "Skyros" meant that it could fly. It was far from being able to fly!
  • The paint job Magic8 is in honor of War Robot's 8th Anniversary. It mimics the black 8-ball in billiards.
  • Skyros may be a reference of the Wrecking ball from the Overwatch series, as the two has a strikingly similar ability and paint job.
