The Scald is a medium-range (up to 500 meters) Shorching light rocket weapon. It has a medium and heavy counterpart (Scorcher and Incierator respectively) and can be viewed as the Scorching counterpart to the Tulumbas.
The Scald is a scorching rocket launcher-that means that upon a certain amount of hits from the Scald, the targeted enemy will explode, dealing AoE (Area of Effect) damage within a 100m (needs verification) range around the target, bypassing any damage resistance and shields in the process.
Due to the Scald's ability to inflict an explosion which bypasses damage resistance and shields, it's best used around groups of enemies with shields or damage resistance, as the explosion will deal explosive damage to the entire group. This makes the Scald good for forcing enemies out of groups to make them easy pickings for allies, as if they choose to stay together they will all take unneccessary damage from the Scald's explosion.
The Scald is best used on robots that can successfully keep a distance from the enemy, as due to its scorching nature it will inevitably be one, if not the most prioritized enemy for the enemy to take out due to its ability to severely damage enemies close together.
As the Scald cannot actually accumulate the explosive status effect unless its rocket damage reaches the enemy's hull, it is advised not to target enemies with energy, Aegis or Absorber shields, however it may be a worthwhile goal to accumulate the explosion on enemies lurking near the energy-shielded enemy as the explosion will also hit the shielded enemy.
