Introduction[]

The perfect addition to the range of jumping robots. The additional engines make the robot able to fly for a considerable distance as well as jumping, while being able to adjust its direction in the air. To protect itself against opponents, the robot is equipped with a defense system which literally sends the damage back where it came from. Its special built-in equipment also allows for lost strength to be compensated at the expense of those unlucky enough to be crushed by the robot when it lands on them.
— in-game description

Raptor is a durable robot equipped with one heavy and two light weapon slots. It has medium speed but stands out due to its very high durability and powerful abilities. Raptor’s unique capabilities make it effective in both offensive and defensive roles on the battlefield.

Ability[]

Raptor's main ability, Comet Splash, allows it to jump in the direction it is heading. While in the air, Raptor can activate engine thrust to fly towards its target. Upon landing, it creates a blast wave that damages nearby enemies. Additionally, it activates a built-in weapon that damages all enemies within 100 meters and gains 50% durability based on the damage dealt. During flight and while the ability lasts on the ground (5 seconds), Raptor gains a REFLECTOR that blocks 60% of incoming damage and reflects 40% back to the enemy. Comet Splash has two charges and a cooldown of 30 seconds, providing substantial tactical flexibility.

Strategy[]

Raptor's weapon slots (one heavy and two light) allow for a variety of loadouts, making it adaptable to different combat situations. Recent additions like the magnet weapons —Athos (heavy) and Aramis (light)—are particularly effective on Raptor. These weapons have a range of 350 meters, can convert 30% of the damage dealt into durability, and feature a quick auto-lock on ability. This synergy allows Raptor to maintain high durability while dealing significant damage. The combination of Athos and Aramis can ensure sustained firepower while continuously boosting Raptor’s health, enhancing its already formidable durability.

Raptor’s ability, Comet Splash, is central to its playstyle. The ability to jump and fly towards targets provides excellent mobility, allowing Raptor to engage enemies quickly or escape dangerous situations. The blast wave upon landing can disrupt enemy formations and deal substantial area damage, while the built-in weapon increases Raptor’s durability by converting damage dealt into health.

Using Comet Splash effectively requires good timing and positioning. For example, jumping into a group of enemies can maximize the damage from the blast wave and built-in weapon, while also benefiting from the REFLECTOR’s damage mitigation and reflection. The 60% damage reduction and 40% reflection make Raptor extremely tough during the ability's active phase, allowing it to survive intense firefights and retaliate against attackers.

Raptor’s medium speed allows it to keep up with other robots on the battlefield, but its high durability is what sets it apart. This durability, combined with the REFLECTOR and the ability to gain health from the built-in weapon, makes Raptor a good front-line fighter. It can take a lot of punishment while dishing out damage, making it effective in both offensive pushes and defensive holds.

For example, in beacon rush scenarios, Raptor can use Comet Splash to quickly reach and secure beacons, using its durability and damage reflection to hold the position against enemy assaults. In team battles, Raptor can jump into the midst of enemies to disrupt their formation and provide a durable target that reflects damage back at them, supporting its teammates.

Additionally, the ability to quickly get into the thick of battle and deal damage enhances the rate at which mothership strikes can be charged and deployed. Motherships provide powerful support abilities that can turn the tide of battle, and Raptor's aggressive playstyle can help trigger these strikes more frequently.

Counterplay:

Despite its strengths, Raptor has some weaknesses. The cooldown period of Comet Splash means that it can be vulnerable once both charges are used. Enemies can take advantage of this downtime to focus fire on Raptor when its REFLECTOR is not active. Coordinated attacks can overwhelm Raptor’s defenses, especially if it is caught out of position without cover.

EMP effects and Blackout abilities can severely hinder Raptor. These effects disable Raptor's abilities temporarily, leaving it without its REFLECTOR and making it more susceptible to damage. Robots Typhon with its Blackout ability or the Whiteout drone can effectively neutralize Raptor’s defenses and open it up to concentrated attacks.

Robots with abilities that bypass or ignore damage reflection, such as those with built-in energy weapons or abilities that nullify defenses, can be effective counters to Raptor.
