Introduction

The Jaeger is a quad-legged medium robot with 2 heavy hardpoints. It is unofficially classified as a heavy robot based on wiki criteria.

Abilities

The Jaeger's ability is named Sniper Mode. Upon activation the Jaeger alternates between its two modes: Scout Mode and Attack Mode. When in Scout Mode Jaeger does not have any special features, but upon activating Attack Mode the Jaeger deploys an Aegis-class barrier with 45,700 durability at base level and activates its built-in kinetic cannon.

The Jaeger's Aegis barrier is only active inside Attack Mode, but it regenerates passively in both modes. The Jaeger always starts off the match in Scout Mode.

Strategy

Jaeger is best suited for a sniper role due to its slow movement speed when shielded and average durability. It is recommended to be a long-range support robot. Given two heavy weapon slots and a sniper ability it's a good idea to use sniper weapons like Tempest, Flux, Trebuchets, or Gauss, or other mid- / long-range weapons such as Tempest, Dragoon, or Nucleon. The use of Avenger is not advised due to its low accuracy at farther range. Since this robot can climb structures it is best to use that ability to gain higher ground for sniping angles. Jaeger shouldn't be used as a brawler due to its low movement speed while using its ability, big hitbox, and average health.

As one of the strongest snipers in the game the Jaeger should be equipped with a weapon that takes advantage of the various traits that make it unique. The main objective of any commander is to keep a great distance from the action and provide support/covering fire to anyone engaged in the center of the battlefield or blasting other snipers across the map to rid their presence when your allies are capturing beacons.

Even though the Jaeger's built-in kinetic cannon strongly assists in in sniping, the Jaeger's two heavy slots, especially when armed with sniping weapons, don't do nearly as much damage as close-quarters weapons like Devastator and Glory. As such, it is essential to prioritize enemies to get the most out of your Jaeger-hit-and-run units waiting for their abilities to reload like Scorpion and Leech are a good idea to fire on. Tanky robots like Fenrir and Invader, especially when armed with resistances, are very tough to take out, so it's not advised to go for them first. Robots with barriers like Typhon are hard to attack as well as their shields will generally regenerate by the time the Jaeger's weapons are clear for another shot.

Possible Modules for Jaeger include a Thermonuclear Reactor and Overdrive Unit to maximize its firepower and to deal more damage to enemies while sniping, or Fortifier to increase its Aegis shield's durability. Heavy Armor Kit and Balanced Unit are debateable, as the Jaeger's sniping role and Aegis shield means that its actual hull durability isn't a priority. For Active Modules, Quantum Radar can be used to blast away stealth enemies like the Ao Jun, Nightingale, Loki, etc. However, since the Jaeger gets stuck in certain areas on multiple key areas in the maps, it is strongly suggested getting the Jump Unit to pop out of those hidden traps, if not, hope your teammates will help and push you out of them. It is advised to steer clear of these areas if you think that your Jaeger cannot pass it.

Threat Measure

Jaeger is a high threat in both low and medium leagues due to its high firepower, but is a moderate threat in the upper leagues due to its low speed while using its ability.

Overview

The Jaeger is a powerful sniping platform that can be rendered useless without a good setup, as its built-in kinetic cannon serves as a minor boost to overall damage while sniping. While the Jaeger is close to useless in close-combat, a good setup that also serves as a medium-range configuration (albeit not very well) is paired Avengers. However, it is much more advised to use double Tempests, as their powerful shells will quickly deplete enemies' health pools with the added bonus of the enemies not being able to return fire, but if they do actually get close enough the Jaeger can deploy a quickly-regenerating Aegis shield to defend itself.

Another good build is twin Dragoons, or dual Tridents for its splash counterpart. Both setups rely on several quick bursts of damage, but due to their reload-while-firing attribute they can fire continuously (albeit with a slower ROF) even when depleted of ammunition.

For more continuous damage, Viper or Nucleon will go quite well on the Jaeger. They have 500m range, allowing for a semi-sniper role, and can deal devastating damage for quite a while until they have to reload (or cool down, in the case of the Nucleon). The only real downside to these weapons are that they don't go very well with the Jaeger's kinetic shell-shooter.

For one-shot damage, Gauss, Zeus and Trebuchet are the best candidates for the Jaeger. Zeus deals catastrophic damage when upgraded from ranges up 600m, and it will be back in just 5 seconds with its short reload. Gauss and Trebuchet, meanwhile, have much longer ranges of 800m and 1,100m respectively. They have a charge-accumulating attribute, allowing them to charge up for a while behind cover, and the commander can choose when (and with it how much damage) to fire. The Gauss has a shorter range then the Trebuchet, but is a kinetic weapon and can bypass damage resistance, whilst the Trebuchet is cheaper, is an energy weapon and can fire with an extra 300m range.

The Flux is the final choice. It can steadily vaporize enemies with a focused laser beam from up to 1,100m range. Like the Dragoon and Trident, it has a reload-while-firing attribute, but uses it up slowly, allowing for much more potential of sustained-combat than either of the others.

Not Recommended

  • The use of Nashorn or Kang Dae are not advised as they have neither the sustained-combat potential nor damage to remain competitive where the Jaeger becomes available, though they do have much synergy with the Jaeger's built-in weapon.
  • Close-range weapons are not advised as they do not fit in with the Jaeger's role for sniping.

Built-in Kinetic Weapon

The Jaeger's built-in weapon system fires 1 kinetic shell in 9 seconds, with a maximum range of 1100 meters. However, it can be controlled when the Jaeger wishes to fire the kinetic weapon via the attack button.

Trivia

  • Jaeger means hunter in German.
  • This robot could be won in the Evolife bloom event, though the event still looks like the Icarus Cyber show.
  • The built-in cannon has similar functions as your average Nashorn.
  • The Jaeger is described by Pixonic as the "Best sniper in the game" and is possibly a competitor with behemoth
  • During its initial release, there was a bug which sometimes caused the Jaeger's legs to phase through the ground preventing any movement. This was fixed in the following update.
  • A bug currently exists with the special edition Solid Jaeger, where its legs aren't properly connected to the lower base. Making it look awkward, but still functions normally.
  • The Solid Jaeger is a reference to the long forgotten idea of the robot Bastion.
  • During the first few weeks of testing the Jaeger on the Test Server, it was able to be mounted with 2 anciles.
  • This combination produced two different results that varied differently depending on the user’s platform; For android, putting Anciles on a Jaeger caused its Aegis shield to turn to an Energy Shield. And for IOS, the Anciles turned into Aegis Shields.
  • All together, the Jaeger had nearly 250k Shield HP. But when combined with 3 Fortifiers, pilot skills and that you could upgrade the Anciles to lvl 12 Mk1 (which was possible at the time), the total HP was increased to just over 560k. This made the Jaeger’s Aegis Shield extremely durable, even against multiple volleys from Tsars and Thermites.
