An incredibly powerful energy weapon that damages enemies with a flow of cold plasma particles. After a certain number of hits, the target freezes. It's movement speed is lowered and incoming damage is increased.

Introduction

Hel is a medium-range heavy weapon that fires energy projectiles that look similar to the Ion. It is part of a freezing lightning weapons that include Hel, Skadi, and Snaer. It has high accuracy, does not require lock-on and can inflict the freezing effect.

Strategy

The Hel is a strong freezing weapon suited for mid-range combat, however it is also very effective when forced into close combat or in 1v1 scenarios.

The Hel fires an arc of energy projectiles which accumulate the Freezing status effect onto enemy, represented by a snowflake next to their health bar which slowly fills up with red (representing how much Freeze they've accumulated on their robot). Once a robot is Frozen, they will notice a reduction in speed and an increase in incoming damage for 5 seconds, making them extremely vunerable to weapons fire as well as making it harder for them to retreat into cover. After those 5 seconds are up, the robot will develop immunity to any further Freezing for 15 seconds. If the user stops firing at an enemy that has accumulated Freeze, the enemy will slowly lose the accumulated Freezing until the user starts firing at them again.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Freezes enemies
  • Good at both short and medium range engagements
  • Short reload time and a relatively large magazine
  • Reload While Fire means the weapon will not have a 100% 'down time'

Cons:

  • Not good for long range combat
  • Excessive exposure is needed to fully utilize it's damage potential
