Introduction[]

The Fujin is a quadrupedal medium robot with 3 medium hardpoints.

Ability[]

The Fujin's ability is called Sentry Mode, which gives it a powerful energy shield, which can be bypassed by energy weapons. When in Sentry mode the Fujin's torso is raised for a larger field-of-view while maintaining the ability to rotate or move. The energy shield only recharges while the robot is in Sentry Mode.

Strategy[]

The Fujin is quite a vunerable robot, featuring a very mediocre health pool, especially for a medium robot. However, it makes up for this with its Sentry Mode ability, which deploys an energy shield with more health than the Fujin itself. As such, it's safe to say that the majority of the Fujin's durability comes from the energy shield, and thus it has to play to its advantages.

The built-in energy shield is quite a large dome, therefore it allows the Fujin to shield nearby allies from attacks that the energy shield can block. As the energy shield has quite a high health pool, commanders should not refrain from protecting allies simply in fear of losing personal protection. If anything, the presence of nearby allies is even more beneficial than the Fujin's energy shield, as then serve as meatshields for the Fujin as well as providing additional firepower.

However, the Fujin's reliance on its large enemy dome is also its weakness. Weapons with massive spread will catch most, if not all, shots on the Fujin's shield's high profile, taking it down in just a couple of shots. Energy weapons (and later special) ignore the shield completely, allowing them to obliterate the Fujin's hull directly and ignoring half of its effective HP. As such, any Fujin commander would be advised to disengage Sentry Mode and heading for cover immediately if encountering either of these kinds of builds.

The energy shield activates as soon as Sentry Mode is initiated, whether or not the Fujin's torso has risen to its full height or not, so it serves as a good "Panic Button" which can block incoming kinetic attacks. When faced with low-ammo-capacity weapons, this is a great strategy, as they would probably deal a huge amount of damage to Fujin's hull.

The Fujin is a very solid head-on brawler. Its durable energy shield and high firepower allow it to deal heavy damage to enemies while not taking much damage itself. Sentry Mode should be engaged the moment you get in range of their weapons (unless they're the aforementioned energy and spread weapons), in order to conserve the Fujin's hull's low health. However, if your energy shield runs out of health on the way towards the enemy, disengaging Sentry Mode and heading for cover immediately is a good idea.

However, the Fujin's real strength comes in mid-range covering fire. Mid-range weapons aren't capable of dealing much damage to the Fujin's energy shield, while its solid firepower allows it to return fire back. If used strategically, the Fujin is capable of dealing high damage to the enemy while taking none in return.

Fujin's last role is as a beacon protector. Engaging Sentry Mode in the middle of a beacon provides an energy dome that spans a significant amount of the capture area, so any allies defending the beacon can fall back into the safety of the robot's energy shield while still guarding a significant portion of the beacon. The speed reduction in Sentry Mode is also negligible in this role, as the Fujin's only movement will to be to get a better firing angle.

Fujin commanders must be aware at all times the distance of enemies from itself. It's advised to focus on an enemy when they're within 200m of the Fujin in case they charge towards it and bypass its energy shield by walking through it.

Counterplay: The Fujin is massively reliant on its durable energy shield, so using energy weapons to bypass it is the easiest strategy. However, high burst-damage weapons can bring the shield down in one clip, leaving the Fujin vulnerable to any allies with their sights set on it. Alternatively, high-spread weapons can catch most of their shots on the shield, taking it down extremely quickly. Finally, simply charging through the shield is a good idea, but it's advised to have a considerable amount of cover or a shield as the Fujin's three medium slots can deal a large amount of damage to your robot.

Threat Measure: The Fujin is a powerful robot with a very durable energy shield and high firepower. As such, if commanded correctly to preserve the robot's hull durability as much as possible, the Fujin is a very high threat as a Tier 2 robot. However, if commanded incorrectly, the Fujin will pose only a mediocore threat to any kind of robot, even ones using kinetic builds.

Possible Setups[]

Some effective builds for Fujin are:

Note: Each slot type is filled with only one particular weapon. For example, if a robot has 3 light all three of those slots are filled with Pinatas, as mixing weapons of the same slot type is not advisable.

Not Recommended[]

  • The use of the Shocktrain isn't recommended as it is best mounted on fast moving robots using hit-and-run tactics to avoid retaliation and enemy fire, and although it can change directions instantly and has decent speed for a medium robot, the Fujin simply isn't fast enough. Remember, its ability sacrifices 30%movent for shielding, so Sentry Mode isn't well suited to this build either.
  • The use of the Storm isn't advised due to the very close range required for it to be effective (under 200 meters). The Fujin does not have enough health to approach and engage enemy robots whilst under fire, and it is 30% slower when it is in Sentry Mode.
  • The use of the Scourge is not recommended for close-range either due to it also being most effective at point-blank(far and safe) range, where enemy robots can walk through the Fujin's energy and bypass it, rendering the Fujin vulnerable. However, using it as a mid-range (400 meters or higher) role is effective.
  • You can mix Storm and Scourge for both close and long-range attacks, but mixing weapons of the same slot type is not advisable. It's best to use mid-range weapons.

Trivia[]

  • Fujin translates to “Wind God” in Japanese
  • Due to the coloring, Fujin resembles the hidden robot in the Springfield map. Additionally, the hidden robot in Springfield was removed shortly after the announcement of the Fujin.
  • Fujin's initial name can be seen at Pixonic's Roboduck poster, and one can see that it's called "Sentinel" on 1 April, just 18 days prior to the official release
  • The Fujin is one of eight quadrupedal robots, the others being the Raijin, Weyland, Rayker, Invader, Jaeger, Skyros, and Imugi
  • It is one of five robots with a built-in energy shields, the others being the Carnage, Haechi, Bulwark, and Fenrir. Its energy shield is the strongest
  • The Fujin does not suffer from landing lag. This is because it is a quadrupedal robot
  • Due to its four legs, the Fujin can hang off the side of ledges without falling off. This can be used to gain a better angle to fire at opponents. However, it cannot climb up obstacles, unlike the Raijin and Weyland
  • Because the Fujin is so low to the ground, it can still hit "stealthed" robots while it is not in Sentry Mode
  • Fujin has written "Wind God" in Japanese "風神" on its back and forehead
  • Dragon paint job for Fujin has the word "Dragon" written on it
  • The Fujin shares the same base health as the Strider at all levels
  • The Fujin is the robot that appears on the current War Robots app logo, equipped with 3x Punisher T
  • The Fujin is was once most expensive silver bot, with a price of 5 million AG [Sliver], though this price is dwarfed by the cost of producing component bots. (In the update 7.7.7 this robot is now worth 2000 AU [Gold])
  • In Update 6.5, the Fujin did not have any collision model with other robots or the outside barriers on Dead City, this allowed Fujins to walk through other robot or fall out of the map if they walked out of the map. This was later fixed in Update 6.6.
  • Another bug that was also present in the 6.5 update, is that certain weapons such as Atomizer when mounted on the left hardpoint of the Fujin, when firing, projectiles will be blocked before they leave the gun if the Fujin was looking at a certain direction, the cause behind this was unknown and was later fixed in the 6.6 update.
  • Fujin and Raijin were portrayed by Ogata Korin on a picture:
    Fujin Raijin

    Raijin (left) and Fuijin (right)

  • This robot was added on March 3, 2016.
