Introduction[]

The Scatter is a close-range (up to 200 meters, with a 100m optimal range) light sonic weapon. It has a medium and heavy counterpart (Havoc and Devastator respectively) and can be viewed as the sonic counterpart to the Halo and Gust.

Strategy[]

The Scatter is an extremely situational but powerful sonic shotgun with 200m range, which gives it a unique use and playstyle. Since it is outranged by any other weapon besides it and its family (and also the Harpoon weapons like the Needle), it requires a method to get up close in order to unleash its hellish salvo of sonic waves on an enemy. There are numerous ways to do this, but the best things to mount it on are a Scorpion along with its medium counterparts Havoc, a Phantom with Havocs, a Hellburner with its heavy counterpart Devastator, a Shell with a Devastator, a Pursuer, a Loki and finally a Blitz.

On a Scorpion, playing the Scatter is fairly simple: wait for the enemy to get within range of Backstab, teleport, unload and retreat. However, there are things to look out for. The main thing to watch out for is to make sure you don't expose yourself. Make sure no enemy knows who you are until you teleport, as well-informed enemies may know to dump you into an Environmental Hazard.

Pros and Cons[]

Pros

  • Critical damage in a very short time (7 seconds)
  • Is effective even at its maximum range, unlike other shotguns
  • Can easily deplete Physical, Ancile and Aegis shields due to its huge damage
  • Deals grey structural damage which can't be repaired in most cases
  • Reloads while firing

Cons

  • Extremely short range (although Needle has an even shorter range)
  • Is a shotgun weapon, meaning it isn't very good in prolonged combat if you're firing continuously without reloading
  • Is a sonic weapon, meaning it can't penetrate any shield
  • Mediocre reload time (16 sec for full clip)
