Introduction
The Blaze is a close-range (up to 350 meters) light special weapon.
Strategy
The Blaze is the light version flamethrower of the medium Igniter and heavy Ember.
The Blaze has high DPS, a 350 meter range, a 5-second reload time, and the ability to bypass all types of shielding (except Aegis and Absorber). Flamethrowers are relatively ineffective against fast moving targets due to slow projectile speed.
The Blaze can be paired up with an Ember or Igniter for a setup that deals large amounts of damage up close regardless of whether the target is shielded or not. It can also be paired with the Redeemer (and potentially Taran, although Igniter is better in terms of damage) as they share the same range, reload and roughly unload time. Redeemer has superior damage and projectile speed but unlike the Blaze it cannot pierce physical shields.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Special attribute allows penetration of both physical and energy barriers
- Good damage when within range
- Short reload
- Good for sustained combat
Cons
- 350-meter maximum range requires close-range engagement
- Mediocre projectile speed means it is easily evaded by fast moving bots
- Needs to empty entire clip in order to reload
